Fiuggi Spa
Fiuggi
boasts two different spas Fonte Bonifacio VIII and the Fonte Anticolana. A brief
description of both of these are given below.
Fonte
Bonifacio VIII
The Fonte Bonifacio VIII is mostly
frequented in the morning. The name comes from the pontifact himself, who, along
with others like Michelangelo, have been the first to enjoy these miraculous
waters.
There are numerous fountains placed around the
spa where one can freely drink the mineral rich water, there are numerous paths
lined with secular chestnut trees.
The whole complex was the opera of an architect
named Moretti. It spans across open and sheltered spaces through paths protected
by numerous plants. These springs are located in the heart of the city.
Fonte Anticolana The
complex is situated close to the city, immersed in chestnut trees, pines and oak
trees. The Fonte Anticolana is also called the Fonte Nuova (New Spa). It was
opened in the 1920's and mostly frequented in the afternoons - as the
therapeutic spa of Bonifacio VIII is prevalently used in the morning. The
Fonte Anticolana has a big park, tennis courts, bocce ball courts, minigolf,
ping-pong tables and a big children's playground. The theatre also holds a
variety of shows and concerts hosting both national and international artists.
